Body-Sensing Kirigami

University of Michigan researchers have built a kirigami-inspired sensor that can form to different parts of the human body.

The project was led by Max Shtein, a professor of materials science and engineering, and Erin Evke, a materials science and engineering PhD candidate.

The research was led by Anish Tuteja, an associate professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan in collaboration with Michael Thouless, the Janine Johnson Weins Professor of Engineering in mechanical engineering.

Ice-Shedding Coating

A spray-on coating developed by Michigan Engineering researchers causes ice to fall away from large surfaces with just the force of a light breeze, or often from the weight of the ice itself.
